The Cats struggled a bit against Buffalo on Sunday, the bad news is, things won't get any easier Tuesday night.
Kentucky will face-off against the Jayhawks of Kansas in the State Farm Champions Classic in Indianapolis. Since the arrival of John Calipari, Kentucky has played the Jayhawks twice, once in the Champions Classic and once for the National Championship with the Cats winning both match-ups. So, to say that there is a bit of a rivalry here is a bit of an understatement.
For those of you who may not be familiar with Kansas, here's a little overview of the Jayhawks....
SCHOOL HISTORY:
EST: 1865
ENROLLMENT: 27,983
LOCATION: Lawrence, Kansas
COLORS: KU Crimson/KU Blue
CONFERENCE: Big 12
NICKNAME: Jayhawks
MASCOT: Big Jay
Now that the boring stuff is out of the way, let's take a look at how these two historic teams stack up against one another this time around....
TEAM COMPARISON:
Now that you've had a chance to look over the stats, it's clear that these two teams are pretty evenly matched. Sure, Kansas has only played one game so far this season and Kentucky has played two, but this is a pretty good indicator for what you might see come tomorrow night.
This will be a great test for Kentucky as they look to start their march towards the schools ninth championship. It won't be an easy game and it probably won't be pretty to watch, but one thing is for sure, by the end of the game, you will know exactly how good this team is at this point in the season. Sure it's early, but with the amount of talent Kentucky has on it's roster, they shouldn't struggle against any team this year no matter how good they are. I'm not saying they won't struggle, I am saying however that they shouldn't struggle.
Tomorrow night, tune in to ESPN and watch the Cats and Jayhawks do battle at 9pm, it will be a good one.
