Kentucky DESTROYS Chalons-Reims (French Professional) 81-58

Kentucky won it's second game in the Bahamas 81-58 over Chalons-Remis and this is a game that most thought they would lose as Chalons-Remis had the most talent they will face during this tour.

Every player was impressive it's so hard to pick just one or two to talk about. Instead, lets talk about the team as a whole. The starting five of Harrison Twins, Dakari Johnson, Alex Poythress and Devin Booker are very impressive on both ends of the floor. Early in the game, Chalons-Remis started going inside for some easy buckets so Kentucky switched to one of the most impressive zones that I have seen in quite sometime. There is so much length at the top of the zone that its hard to see or shoot over. Then IF you are actually able to get inside, the length gets longer, so there's no real way to attack this team when they're in a zone unless you can hit a deadly percentage from outside IF you can get open that is.

The second five of Tyler Ulis, Derek Willis, Marcus Lee, Dominique Hawkins and Karl Towns isn't much different from the starting five. It was said earlier this year that Kentucky is Pre-season number one and their second five is pre-season number two. That's not far from the truth when you watch these guys play. Just the abundance of talent on this roster will simply overwhelm some teams this season. However, I think defense is going to be this teams calling-card. You seen it today, when they turned up the heat on defense, Chalons-Reims didn't have a chance at either end of the floor. Also a strength of this team is ball movement. They move the ball around the perimeter and inside and out better than any team Cal has had since he's been at Kentucky. It's really fun to watch these guys play to as they are one of the most unselfish team that I've seen in a while.

Kenny Payne had the pleasure of playing head coach today as Cal sat in the bleachers where he said he wanted to observe his team. Well, if you call this...

observing team, then he does it well.

This was once again a fun game to watch as these guys seem to really have fun on the court. They also seem to play extremely well together, something that you didn't see at times last season at least early on. I think this team is going to be special. I mean, when you beat a professional team by 23 points you're not bad.. I said it's hard to pick just one guy to talk about, but when a kid has this kind of performance you have to talk about it. Karl Towns Jr. finished the game with a double-double 19 points and 10 rebounds. That's just impressive I don't care if it was an exhibition game or not.

Check back as we will have the post game quotes and box scores later on.
