Record Number of Tents for Big Blue Madness Camp-out

Since the day John Calipari was named the head coach at Kentucky, he has had a saying that he just keep repeating... "You guys are crazy"..

After reading the Press Release from the University of Kentucky that came out today concerning the Big Blue Madness Camp-out, I finally understand what he means.

Last year, CAT fans set a record for the number of tents (595) that were set up in "tent city". Well, today another record has been set when the final count of 755 tents came in today at around 1pm. With so many people in line to try to get tickets to Big Blue Madness, the University is warning people that if your not in line as of now, there's a very good chance you may not get tickets at all.

Deputy Athletics Director, DeWayne Peevy had this to say about the camp out...

"Based upon our latest estimated numbers, any tent or camper not already in line for Big Blue Madness tickets is not likely to receive control cards on Friday at 2 p.m. ET, We will still maintain a limited number of tickets online for those who do not receive control cards on Friday or were not able to camp out. Our goal is to protect the tradition the Big Blue Nation created in camping out for free tickets to our first public practice each season. With that, we have a responsibility to communicate with our fans that are camping out that we are near our capacity of tickets available for distribution."

A maximum of four (4) control cards per tent will be issued to those camped out on Friday, Oct. 4, beginning at 2 p.m. ET. Fans will receive a maximum of four (4) free tickets per control card on Saturday morning. Fans with control cards are encouraged to begin lining up for Saturday morning’s ticket distribution between 5-6 a.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 5. All fans must be present to obtain their control cards on Friday and only one control card per person will be accepted at distribution. All persons with control cards must be in line by 7 a.m. ET on Saturday.

Campers are also in for a surprise tonight as John Calipari tweeted out the following message " Just left the Muhammad Ali humanitarian awards and gala in Louisville. On my way to see my people in #TentCity #BBN #WeAreUK

For the love of all that is good and pure, bring on October 18 already....
