UofL Basketball Player, Mangok Mathiang Arrested

Several news outlets are reporting that UofL basketball player, Mangok Mathiang has been arrested.

Here is the report from WDRB.com....

"LMPD Public Information Officer Dwight Mitchell confirms to WDRB News that U of L basketball player Mangok Mathiang was arrested.

According to court documents, Mathiang faces charges of drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public place and failure to disperse.

An arrest report states the incident happened at 7:30 p.m. on May 2 at 3 rd St. and Central Ave. In the report, an officer writes that Mathiang was "walking down 3rd St. when his friend was arrested and was asked several times to leave and kept walking down street following police."

The report goes on to say Mathiang had a Bud Light in a can and dropped it on the ground.

Mathiang is a red shirt freshman for the Cardinals. Stay with WDRB News for more information about this developing story."

The thing that sticks out to me in this story is the fact that the police officer gave Mathiang several opportunities to walk away even though had had an alcoholic beverage in hand. And they say that basketball players don't get treated differently.
