Dim The Lights 4 Tark; R.I.P Jerry Tarkanian

Legendary college basketball coach, Jerry Tarkanian passed away after a recent stint in a local Las Vegas hospital on Wednesday afternoon. If you are any kind of college basketball fan, then you know exactly who "Tark the Shark" is. If you don't, well then, you need to be reading some other website my friend.

Jerry is most famous for his coaching tenure at UNLV which lasted 19 seasons ending with a record of 509-105 and one National Championship in 1990 with one of the most dominating college basketball teams in history. That bunch was just nasty to put it bluntly, you didn't want anything to do with the Runnin' Rebels of UNLV in the early nineties.

The reason for this post besides of it being my way of showing my appreciation for what Jerry did for college basketball is to make you aware of what's going to take place in Las Vegas.

Just to give you some idea how much Jerry meant to the city and the people of Las Vegas, they will be dimming the lights on the world famous Las Vegas Strip for three minutes on February 18 in honor of Jerry. Now that is how you honor someone who brought some much attention and excitement to your local university that often got overlooked before he came along.

R.I.P Jerry "Tark the Shark" Tarkanian
