Unless you have been living under a rock the last few months, you know Kentucky Basketball gets an early start by playing eight games in the Bahamas starting this Sunday afternoon. Everyone is excited, especially those who are fortunate enough to be able to attend the games in person. Then there is the sheer pleasure of being in the Bahamas for several days, it doesn't get any better than that.
For those who will be in the Bahamas and intend on going to the games, beware of ticket scalpers as 300 ticket booklets have been reported stolen and tickets from those booklets WILL NOT BE HONORED.
Here is statement released today by the University of Kentucky on this matter and how things will be handled...
"Three hundred ticket booklets for the Kentucky men’s basketball team’s Big Blue Bahamas tour were stolen in transit to the Bahamas. The ticket booklets are numbered 1201 through 1500 and will be invalid for entry to all six exhibition games in the Bahamas to be played Aug. 10-17.
Fans are encouraged to be vigilant in purchasing tickets in the Bahamas. Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium personnel have been informed of the stolen tickets and will not allow entry to anyone attempting to use tickets flagged as stolen.
Fans who have already purchased tickets for the Big Blue Bahamas tour will not be affected. UK Athletics officials ordered more ticket booklets than have been pre-purchased. All purchases will be honored.
UK opens its Big Blue Bahamas Tour on Aug. 10. The Wildcats will face the Puerto Rico national team reserves, Champagne Chalons-Reims Basket and the Dominican Republic national team twice each during the six-game tour. Games on Aug. 10-12 will be televised on ESPNU and games on Aug. 15-17 will air on the SEC Network."
It takes only a few to screw things up for the honest people. Be on the look-out and be cautious of who you buy tickets from.
