After leading by only one at halftime, Kentucky wins in very convincing fashion 80-64. The story of the night has got to be the play of Willie Cauley-Stein. He ended the game with 18 points, 11 rebounds, 6 blocks, went 4-5 from the free-throw line and 7-8 from the field. That was great to see considering the last six games Willie was a combined 14 points, 19 rebounds, and nine blocks. I'd say that is an improvement and something this team has needed.
After tonights game, Willie Cauley-Stein is 13th on UK's all-time block list and is four away from tying Nazr Mohammed.
Julius Randle was basically nonexistent in the first half scoring only one point (on a free-throw), but turned things around in the second ending the game with 12 points and 5 rebounds. He will have to work harder on the boards going forward, but a decent game overall for the freshman.
This was a "must win" game for these young Cats despite what Calipari would have you believe. If they continue to take care of business at home and win the road games that they are supposed to, they should be fine in March.
