For 34 minutes Kentucky looked like the team fans thought they would see from day one, then came the last six minutes. The Cats blew a 22 point lead and wound up winning 84-70. Now, I know what you're thinking; a 14 point win is good for being on the road. You're right, that is good, but considering Kentucky had a 22 point lead with six minutes to go in the game, it's some what of a disappointment. To be honest, Kentucky should have won this game by no less than 20, but sloppy play at the end of the game (19 turnovers for the game) led to the finish we witnessed. However, there was something shown in this game that we have not seen all season long....
Kentucky actually showed a will to win, heart, hustle, fight and a refuse to lose attitude that we wished we had seen back in December. Despite the last six minutes, the game was never really in doubt. If not for shots that never should have fallen and a guy (Perez) playing way above what he is known for, Kentucky would have had their first blowout of the season and by a wide margin.
It was good to see this team respond the way they did after losing to Florida on Saturday night. Now the question is, can they sustain this type of effort for the remainder of the regular season and earn themselves a decent seed for the SEC and NCAA Tournament? Time will tell.....
