John Calipari is known for two things, his love of Orange Leaf frozen yogurt and getting players to the NBA who with any other coach wouldn't have the same opportunity.
His latest surprise for the NBA, Uncle Julius Mays. Yes that's right, the same guy who transferred to Kentucky with most experts saying that his playing time would be limited due to the amount of talent the Cats had on the roster. Not only were they wrong about Julius' playing time, they missed the boat completely when it came to just how important Mays' presence would be for the Cats. He carried the team as far as he could when Nerlens Noel went down with an injury and now it seems that he will be reaping some rewards for his efforts during the season.
Today, Julius had a workout for the Brooklyn Nets, something NO ONE even thought was a possibility going into last season. But, after one season under John Calipari, here we are with the possibility of Julius Mays being picked up as a free agent by an actual NBA team. Calipari was in attendance during Julius' workout for the Nets and after Tweeting out this picture, he had this to say about the workout...
"Just got done watching Julius Mays at the Nets' combine. Julius played really well-- and he played point guard! Julius had 18 points and six assists in just two 12-minute quarters. He played so well that people are probably wondering why I didn't play him at point guard. Couldn't be more proud of Julius."
Best of luck to Julius, we hope to see him achieve his dreams of playing in the NBA, with the help of Cal, ANYTHING is possible...
