Are my eyes deceiving me, or did this team just grow up before our eyes? We seen a Jekyll and Hyde type of game from the Cats. First half, same ole same ole, second half we seen a team that suddenly realized they wanted to win a ball game.
Calipari's theory of " I can't see this team being up twenty on anybody" is out the window, my theory as well. We seen hustle from everyone instead of just one or two people. Wiltjer and Mayes hit some outside shots and Wiltjer done a little bit of everything. He found the open man when it mattered, rebounded fairly decent and when Kentucky needed a basket, he hit from long range.
We actually seen what looked like smiles across the faces of several Kentucky players, something we haven't seen all season. We even had the privilege of seeing Wiltjer attempt a jumping chest bump (as awkward as it was) with a teammate. I have to admit, I enjoyed watching this game and hearing chants of "Go Big Blue" on the road again, something we haven't heard in a while on the road.
It was great to see this type of performance and effort from a team that we thought would never come. I'll try to have a full rundown of the game tomorrow afternoon.
Kentucky wins, 75-53
