Matt Elam visits Alabama

New Kentucky Football headman Mark Stoops has been cleaning up on the recruiting trail as of late and he would love nothing more than to add the big man pictured above Matt Elam, who was on a visit today at Alabama.

Elam (who tweeted out the above picture), is out of Elizabethtown, Kentucky is the 24th ranked defensive tackle in the class of 2014 and would be a MAJOR coupe for Stoops and crew. But, when you see pictures like this, it gives Kentucky a reason to worry. Let's face it, Kentucky is still Kentucky and Alabama is still Alabama when football is concerned. Mark Stoops has been doing an AMAZING job since his arrival in Lexington, but when Nick Saban is recruiting a kid, you pretty much assume that's where they will end up much like John Calipari in basketball. This however may not be the case. 

It is well known that Matt's mother would LOVE for him to suit up in Lexington and we all know that when mom isn't happy no one is happy, but to turn down a scholarship offer from Alabama would be hard to do especially since they were the first (I believe) to give him an offer. 

Drew Barker, another 2014 commitment has been recruiting the big man harder than anyone (Stoops included) in hopes of swaying Elam to join him in Lexington. Only time will tell if his efforts will pay off as Elam has said that he will take his time in making a college decision and who can blame him, but for now, Kentucky fans must know that they are in for a battle against the Tide for Elam's services.

But, just to be in a battle with the likes of Alabama and Nick Saban for a recruit speaks VOLUMES about what Mark Stoops and his staff has done for Kentucky Football.

Patrick Patterson hosting his first basketball camp

Former Wildcat and fan favorite, Patrick Patterson is hosting his first official basketball camp this summer. Always good to see these guys try to help spread their knowledge of the game.

Game Time Set for Football Season Opener

UK vs. WKU at 7 p.m. EDT (6 p.m. CDT) in Nashville

LEXINGTON, Ky. –Kickoff for the 2013Kentucky football season opener vs. Western Kentucky University has been set for 7 p.m. EDT (6 p.m. CDT) on Saturday, August 31. 

For the second time in the last three years, the game will be played in Nashville, Tenn., at LP Field.  The teams also met at LP Field in the 2011 opener, with UK winning 14-3.  This year’s contest will be the first game for both head coaches at their new schools, Mark Stoops of Kentucky and Bobby Petrino of WKU.

Tickets are available and may be purchased by calling800-928-2287.  Fans are encouraged to obtain tickets through UK in order to ensure seating in the Wildcat fan sections.  UK has lower level sideline seats for $43 each and club level seating for $63 each.

Karl Towns Jr. to pitch for St. Joe High School? Zagsblog says its possible

A 2014 Kentucky signee and the number 11 ranked player in his class, Karl Towns Jr. is looking to branch out in sports. Word from Adam Zagoria is that Towns Jr. is looking to pitch for his St. Joe's High School baseball team this season. Could you imagine seeing a high school pitcher standing on the mound at nearly 7'2?

It wouldn't be completely far fetched considering the big man used to pitch when he was in the eight grade. His father, Karl Towns Sr. told Zagoria "just the other day he was swinging and hitting balls, he misses baseball. He says that if everything goes right, he wants to at least be a part of the baseball team his senior year."

If you have followed Karl Towns Jr. at all, you would know that not only is he one of the best in the class of 2014, but that he is just a pure athlete. He not only excels at basketball, but apparently he is quite the golfer as well and it looks as if he is going to be adding a fast ball to his forte'.

Drew Barker gets invited to the Elite11 Finals

Future Kentucky quarterback and number 5 ranked quarterback in the class of 2014, Drew Barker waited to see his name called last night for the Elite11 quarterback camp. It finally came this morning when the Twitter account for Elite11 posted this Tweet eight minutes ago.

@Elite11: Congratulations to Drew Barker, the 16th invite to the #Elite11Finals. Was determined during #MidnightMadness. 

Congrats Drew as this is one of the most prestigious selections for a quarterback and it's well deserved.

Josh Hopkins meets John Calipari

If you follow Kentucky Basketball at all, then you know the Wildcats have some pretty famous fans, Josh Hopkins is one of those fans.

Star of the TV show 'Cougar Town' and a die hard Kentucky fan, Hopkins tweeted out this pic earlier today saying...
